Period. End of Sentence, an India-set documentary about the social stigmas in rural India around menstruation has made it to the Oscars 2019. The 26-minute documentary is nominated in the Documentary short subject category.

Award-winning Iranian-American filmmaker, Rayka Zehtabchi, directed the film. Guneet Monga, Shaan Vyas and Mandakini Kakar produced the film together under Sikhya Entertainment. The Pad Project created the film. It is an organization established by an inspired group of students at the Oakwood School in Los Angeles and their teacher, Melissa Berton.

Period. End of Sentence also features the real-life Padman Arunachalam Muruganathan. The film follows the girls and women in Hapur village of Uttar Pradesh and their experience after the installation of a pad machine in their village. The 91st Academy Awards ceremony will be held at Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, the USA on February 24, 2019.
