Geetha Govindam Story:

Vijay Govind (Vijay Deverakonda), a well-mannered college lecturer, dreams of marrying a girl who understands him. He sees Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna) in a temple and instantly falls in love with her. However, a small misunderstanding separates them. They meet again when the marriage of Geetha’s brother is fixed with the sister of Vijay. The rift between the couple grows over time as they travel together. The rest of the story is about how they reunite.

Story Analysis:

The plot of Geetha Govindam is wafer thin, and the story depends heavily on screenplay. The conflict is a simple one and is not convincing. The misunderstanding and resolution of their problems are not dealt properly. The chemistry between the lead pair is superb but it appears to be romantic even when Geetha avoids Vijay. The characterization of Vijay Govind is not properly developed. He appears to be a gentleman mostly but arrogant during some scenes. The character of Vennela Kishore is in fact the extreme positive side of Vijay’s character.
The story structure is similar to that of Bommarillu. The screenplay is similar to Korean rom-coms. There are many Korean movies like ‘100 days with Mr arrogant’ that follow similar narration. Nevertheless, the film is engaging and the audience expecting a regular romantic comedy will thoroughly enjoy the film. The first half is good and the bus episode is highlight of the film. The second half is boring and predictable. The film is entertaining in bits and pieces throughout, so there are no prolonged boring sequences. The climax is hilarious and is apt for the genre.

Vijay Deverakonda is superb as a submissive youngster. He shines in the role that is similar to Pelli Choopulu. Rashmika Mandanna is impressive as Geetha. Her performance, particularly during the emotional scenes in pre-climax is good. Naga Babu’s role is like a padding to Vijay’s traditional family. Moreover, his dubbing didn’t suit him. Subba Raju appears in a very balanced role. His performance is convincing.

Technical Analysis:

The story is wafer thin and screenplay could have been better. The dialogues are simple yet impressive. The cinematography is an asset to the film and the visuals are rich. The music and background score elevate the mood of the film. The editing is good. The production values are top-notch. The direction is good but there are many minor things which could have been improved.

Geetha Govindam is a regular romantic comedy with good entertainment and pleasant music. Overall, the fans of romantic comedies will enjoy the film.
