Aatagallu Story

Siddharth (Nara Rohit) is a popular film director, arrested for the murder of his wife, Anjali (Darshana). A high-profile public prosecutor, Veerendra (Jagapathi Babu), takes up the case against him but sets him free on bail. A twist in the tale arises when Veerendra finds a different angle on the whole case. The rest of the story is about how Veerendra solves this murder mystery.

Story Analysis

The film has a brilliant central theme but the narration and execution are disasters. The film has extremely slow pacing which is boring and tests the patience of the audience. The comedy track of Brahmanandam is painful to watch. The film follows an extremely old-school format with a conventional plot. Although the audience would have accepted such films in the early 90s, nowadays they are straightaway rejected.

Performances

Jagapathi Babu is brilliant in his role and overshadows all other actors. His courtroom scenes worked out well. Nara Rohit looks out of place all the time. His acting skills were not taken seriously by the audience in unconventional films but a film like Aatagallu is an acid test of his skills and he fails miserably. Debutant Darshana is decent in her role. Brahmanandam is good as usual but his character offers nothing except killing runtime and testing the patience of the audience. Subbaraju is good as a police officer. Most other actors are horrible.

Technical Analysis

Aatagallu has a script that is one of the worst in recent times. The production values are decent. The cinematography and music are disasters. There is nothing an Editor can do for a film that is so bad. The direction is terrible and there is no way to improve the film.

Conclusion

Aatagallu is a boring and sluggish film with terrible execution. It is better to avoid the film.
