Seems like Baahubali has made Bollywood look so small for Telugu actors as many are aiming for Hollywood. We have recently reported that Manchu Vishnu is making his debut in Hollywood. Now, another young actor, Rahul Ramakrishna, joins the list. He shot to fame with Arjun Reddy and became busy with several Telugu and Tamil films. He is playing the roles of character artist, and comedian with occasional lead roles. However, he didn’t break into the high-budget Tollywood films. Rahul Ramakrishna is playing a prominent role in RRR, which could fetch him more roles in prestigious projects. Now, he is directly making a Hollywood debut in a lead role with the film, Silk Road.
Director – Pradeep Katasani
It seems like the Telugu techies in the USA are turning into filmmakers. Recently, Aneesh Chaganty turned into a filmmaker with his acclaimed film, Searching. Now, another techie from Los Angeles, Pradeep Katasani, is turning into a director with a crime thriller. He worked earlier on Shabana Azmi starrer, The Black Prince, and the American TV show Ray Donovan. He has done extensive research on the troubles faced by Indian graduates in the USA and the operations of online drug stores.
Silk Road Story
Silk Road is based on the novel by E Mapache published last year. The story features a Telugu graduate who travels to the USA for his higher studies but lands in a web of drugs and cybercrimes. He accidentally gets hold of high-grade LSD and gets into the dark web to sell it. Rahul Ramakrishna is excited about the project and said that he was chasing the project for a long time. The title Silk Road is based on the online drug marketplace which operated like eBay. In 2012, the FBI has taken down the marketplace and arrested several people involved in it. However, several other stores like Aghora started after the fall of the Silk Road.
