Hello Guru Prema Kosame Story

A happy-go-lucky youngster, Sanju, decides to stay in his hometown but is convinced by his uncle to pursue a job in Hyderabad. Sanju meets Anu on a train while coming to Hyderabad and teases her. She happens to be his uncle’s (family friend) daughter and he stays with them while working in a software company. Sanju eventually falls in love with Anu but her protective father doesn’t like them to get married. The rest of the story is about how Sanju pursued her and convinced her father.

Story Analysis

Hello Guru Prema Kosame has an extremely routine story that we have seen in the last two films of the director and several other films earlier. The story lacks any strong conflict that can hook the audience until the climax. The screenplay managed to engage the audience with entertainment. The software jokes and clean comedy are impressive.

The first half is enjoyable with comedy scenes and regular romantic scenes. The interval twist is good and sets the tone of the second half. The second half has family drama which may not appeal to youth. The character of Praneetha is left out as she doesn’t matter. The climax is routine and there is nothing to expect out of it. The chemistry between the lead pair is not good and it is one of the downsides of the film. The twists in the film appear to be forced as there is not enough build-up or character development to support them. There is a scope to make the characters three-dimensional but it doesn’t happen anywhere in the film.

Performances

Ram Pothineni has been doing the same character throughout his career and he has nothing new to do as an actor. After another decade, he might end up being the stereotypical actor of this generation. Anupama Parameswaran looks beautiful on-screen but has a little scope for performance. Prakash Raj is superb in the film, particularly in the second half. Pranitha Subhash is good in her role with her perfect expressions.

Technical Analysis

The story fails to bring anything fresh on-screen. The dialogues are average. For example, “Lover reject chesthe mandu thagevadini lover antaru” could have been “Ammayi reject chesthe mandu thaage vadini lover antaru”. The production values are decent but Dil Raju seems to be restricting the budget of his films in recent times to avoid losses. The cinematography is good and the visuals are rich. The music is decent and the background score, particularly during romantic scenes, is not up to the mark. The editing is average, some scenes look abrupt. The choreography of songs is good. The direction is decent but there is a scope to make things better.

Conclusion

Hello Guru Prema Kosame is a regular popcorn movie that offers nothing new except a few gags. It is a one-time watch for audiences who love regular rom-com. The film could attract the family audiences with its clean comedy during the festive weekend but once the weekend is over, the fate of the film is doubtful.
