Vidya Balan to play Indira Gandhi in a web series

Actress Vidya Balan recently played female lead in NTR Biopic – NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu. She is now planning to come up with another biopic for a web series based on the life of India’s first and only woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. She interacted with media at the first edition of Critics Choice Film Awards. Her husband and popular producer, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, will produce the web series.

The Bollywood audience have been appreciating biopics in recent times and the producers are trying to exploit the flavor of the season. The actors are also showing interest in playing real life characters to showcase their acting capabilities. Vidya Balan announced that they are just planning the biopic and couldn’t provide any additional details. She further added that she will give her best for any role. According to several other sources, she already started working to reduce her weight for the character. She has been working since several years to shred weight but failed to achieve any positive results due to several reasons. We have to wait for some time to see if she gets successful at it. It is said that the web series will be dubbed into Telugu as she is already familiar to Telugu audience.

Vidya Balan played the role of yesteryear’s actress Silk Smitha in ‘The Dirty Picture’. The film was released in Telugu states with same title. Although she expressed interest in Telugu films, she couldn’t get any exciting roles. Finally Nandamuri Balakrishna offered her to play a challenging role of NTR’s wife in NTR biopic and she impressed everyone with her performance. In spite of being highly talented, she is not getting good offers lately. Vidya Balan finally decided to venture into the digital platform through a web series. The life of Indira Gandhi is full of controversies, so it has to be seen whether they manage to release it without any problems.
