Nawab is the Telugu dubbed version of Tamil action film, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, starring Arvind Swami, Silambarasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Arun Vijay in lead roles. The Telugu theatrical trailer of the film was released by Akkineni Nagarjuna today. It has Mani Ratnam’s mark all over it and is terrific with a star cast and top-notch technical values.
The intense and racy trailer showcases the corrupt empire of a dreaded industrialist, Bhupathi Reddy (Prakash Raj) and his three sons Varada (Arvind Swami), Thyagu (Arun Vijay) and Rudra (Silambarasan). The women have equal importance in the trailer with Jayasudha, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh and Dayana Erappa playing key roles. Vijay Sethupathi is playing the character of Rasool, a corrupt police officer.
The trailer gives a quick glimpse of the story dealing with Arvind Swami as the true successor to the empire, Arun Vijay eyeing on his father’s position and Silambarasan trying to fit in the family. Vijay Sethupathi is an ambitious and corrupt police officer in the film with hidden motives. Jyothika is seen as the wife of Arvind Swami in a powerful role. She recently appeared in a lead role in Jhansi, and this seems to be another interesting role. Aditi Rao Hydari is playing the role of a News reporter extracting information from Arvind Swami.
The visuals are breath-taking with Santosh Sivan handling the cinematography of the film. The background score composed by A. R. Rahman is intriguing. The editing of Sreekar Prasad is crisp and racy.
The Telugu dubbing didn’t fit the film and is quite dull. Mani Ratnam generally comes up with authentic dubbing for his films with a touch of originality. But this time, he seems to have focussed completely on Tamil market to prove his skills and ignored the Telugu version. The direction of Mani Ratnam is timeless and the shots are full of life. The film is releasing worldwide on Sep 28 in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Stay tuned for more updates on Telugu films.
